2010 SUMMER FRENCH TEACHER TRAINING GRANTS
The Cultural Services of the French Consulate in Chicago offers 3 grants to qualified Primary and Secondary Schools French Teachers and 1 grant to an elementary french teacher in a French immersion program (Strasbourg grant only) who would like to improve their language skills and enhance their knowledge of French culture. THE DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 12TH - APPLY NOW!

The program includes: Tuition and training fees for 3 weeks, A round-trip train ticket from Paris to the destination city, Program participants receive grants covering a portion of their accommodation and food expenses. Please note roundtrip airfare is NOT included.
Program Dates: July 5th - 23rd, 2010 / Available Destinations:
1. Strasbourg - Université de Strasbourg Marc Bloch, Institut international d'études françaises de l'Université de Strasbourg (IIEF)
2. Vichy - Centre d'approches vivantes des langues et des médias (CAVILAM)
3. Grenoble - Université Grenoble 3, Centre universitaire d'études françaises (CUEF)
Applicants must be: full-time teachers in accredited U.S. schools in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Ohio and Wisconsin assigned to teach the French language and/or French culture in grades K-12 U.S, citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. (French citizens are not allowed to apply), highly proficient in French, must not have received a grant from the French government within the last 3 years.

OUVERTURE DE LA DEUXIEME SEMAINE MONDIALE ET FRANCOPHONE DE FILMS D'ECOLES
Après le succès de la première édition de la Semaine mondiale et francophone de films d’écoles en 2009 avec 21 pays et lieux de diffusion et quelque 12 000 spectateurs, les inscriptions pour la deuxième édition 2010 sont ouvertes.Lancée par l’association @rtiste production audiovisuelle, cette manifestation, unique en son genre, permet à toutes les institutions (Centres culturels ou Instituts français, cinémas, associations…) et écoles de recevoir et de diffuser la sélection de Festimaj, festival international de films d’écoles.
Inscriptions films : Les écoles, ateliers, ou festivals de cinéma dédiés à la jeunesse, peuvent inscrire leur(s) film(s) pour concourir à Festimaj 2010. |

Les formulaires d’inscription et le règlement sont disponibles sur notre site.
Pour les écoles ou structures qui inscrivent des films pour concourir à Festimaj et souhaitent organiser chez eux la 2e édition de Semaine mondiale et francophone de films d’écoles, leurs films seront automatiquement retenus pour concourir à Festimaj 2010 (sauf cas exceptionnel qui sera motivé par courriel ou par téléphone).
Les inscriptions de films se font jusqu’au 1er avril et les films sont à envoyer avant le 25 avril.

ENROLLMENT PROCEDURE FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES (1st or 2nd year) IN A FRENCH UNIVERSITY OR SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE

If you are interested in pursuing your undergraduate studies in France, you need to fill out through Campus France USA a specific application called «Demande d'admission préalable" (DAP).
In order to be able to apply, you must have:
- Completed your high school diploma, plus completed two Advance Placement Classes, with a grade of at least 3, including one in French language and the other one in the field in which you want to enroll in a French university
Or
- have successfully completed your first year of college.
Information and application
WARNING- The DAP procedure is only applicable if you are interested in enrolling in the first or second year of university ("licence 1 and 2").
The DAP does NOT apply to enrollment in a licence 3 (third year of university) or in a preparatory class.
The DAP does NOT apply to students of French lycées. Students from French lycées MUST apply on the website [www.admissionpostbac.fr] and contact CampusFrance at washington@campusfrance.org to inform them of their decision.
Citizens of the European Union and the European Economic Area do not need to apply to first year of university by the DAP procedure. They must contact the university they are interested in directly. |

Starting September 2010, the school is opening a sixth college in Reims that both French and international students can attend. This college is open to French, American and Canadian students. Students who consider applying to the program can do so until May 4, 2010.

FRENCH ADVOCACY ONLINE RESOURCES WIKI
French teachers now have a tool kit to support their goal of developing and sustaining a successful French program: The French Language Advocacy Kit. Created as a response to the curtailment of French programs across the country, the kit consists of a video and an extensive set of resource documents. The video, “The World Speaks French: Video Stories,” is available as a DVD from the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF). Tournées Program: Create your own French Film Festival in your University
The Tournées Festival Grant was conceived as a program to encourage schools to begin their own self-sustaining French film festivals. |
Since its inception, the program has partnered with hundreds of universities and made it possible for tens of thousands of students to discover French-language films.. The Tournées Festival selection is made of the best films released in France in the past year, some of which have not yet been shown in U.S. theaters. The selection is a real reflection of what today French cinema is up to. You will find a wide array of genres.

L’objectif premier du Programme FLAM est de permettre à des enfants français ou binationaux, expatriés et scolarisés dans des établissements locaux, de conserver la pratique de la langue française et le contact avec sa culture, en suivant, dans un contexte extra-scolaire, des cours spécifiques (atelier de lecture, cuisine, jeux, sortie au théâtre, cinéma, expositions, …) Le programme FLAM consiste en quelques heures de français par semaine et s'adresse aux enfants de 5 à 16 ans, mais ne remplace en aucun cas la scolarisation. SCIENCE FAIR ET ENSEIGNEMENT DES SCIENCES AUX ETATS-UNIS
Le vendredi 13 novembre a eu lieu le traditionnel Science Fair de la Lincoln Elementary School à Chicago qui est une structure originale n’ayant pas d’équivalent aux Etats-Unis : elle offre la possibilité aux élèves d’effectuer un double cursus par cumul de programmes français et américains . Les Science Fairs sont des compétitions aux cours desquelles les élèves américains du primaire au lycée présentent un projet scientifique, qu’ils ont réalisés, sous la forme d’un rapport et d’un poster. Le service scientifique du Consulat de France a saisi l’opportunité de faire partie des jurys d’évaluation des différents projets et profite de cette actualité pour vous présenter le fonctionnement de cette compétition, dans le contexte de l’enseignement des sciences aux Etats-Unis.
