M. Jean-Baptiste Main de Boissière a été nommé par décret du 11 janvier 2010 ambassadeur extraordinaire et plénipotentiaire de la République française auprès de la République de l'Equateur.

Chers compatriotes, chers amis américains,

Le moment est venu pour mon épouse Béatrice et pour moi de vous dire au revoir, après trois années passionnantes passées à Chicago dans la grande circonscription consulaire du MidWest.

J'ai pris un grand plaisir, au cours de mes déplacements et de nombreuses rencontres, à faire la connaissance de beaucoup d'entre vous. Les Français du MidWest sont entreprenants, dynamiques, ouverts, bien intégrés dans leur environnement. Ce fut un honneur de servir au milieu de vous comme ce fut un honneur de diriger une équipe de grande qualité au Consulat de France à Chicago.

Je forme tous mes voeux pour l'approfondissement des liens humains, économiques, intellectuels et culturels qui unissent la France et le Mid West. L'amitié franco-américaine, dans ce monde qui connaît bien des difficultés, est une valeur qui doit être cultivée. Grâce à vous, elle est bien vivante dans cette grande région que l'on considère souvent, à juste titre à mes yeux, comme le "coeur" de l'Amérique.'

Mr. Jean-Baptiste Main de Boissière was nominated by official decree on January 11th, 2010 Ambassador of the French Republic to the Republic of Equador.

INFORMATIONS CONSULAIRES

MEASURES DE REGULATION DES AIDES A LA SCOLARISATION
Le consulat général de France à Chicago informe les familles françaises sollicitant une aide à la scolarisation que des mesures de régulation seront effectives à compter de la prochaine rentrée scolaire. Le budget de l’aide à la scolarité au bénéfice des enfants français résidant avec leur famille à l’étranger devrait s’élever, conformément aux autorisations de dépense fixées par le Premier ministre à 106 MEUR en 2010 et 126 MEUR en 2011. Tous les jeunes Français doivent participer entre la date de leur recensement et celle de leur dix-huitième anniversaire à une session d’appel de préparation à la défense (A.P.D.). Le consulat général de France à Chicago organise une session annuelle à laquelle sont convoqués les jeunes gens recensés dans l’année ou les années précédentes mais n’ayant pas participé à l’A.P.D. En 2010, cette session se tiendra le samedi 15 mai 2010 de 9h00 à 13h00. En savoir plus.

BOURSES SCOLAIRES
Les dossiers de bourses pour l’année scolaire 2010-2011 doivent être déposés auprès du Consulat général de France à Chicago entre le 1er février 2010 et le 1er mars 2010, cachet de la poste faisant foi. Aucun dossier ne sera accepté après cette date pour les élèves relevant de la première campagne boursière. Pour en savoir plus.

PRISE EN CHARGE DES LYCEENS FRANCAIS
Pour l’année scolaire 2010/2011, les dossiers doivent être déposés auprès du Lycée français de Chicago et transmis au Consulat général au plus tard le 1er mars 2010. Passé ce délai, aucun dossier ne sera instruit pour les familles qui résident dans la circonscription avant le 1er janvier 2010. Pour en savoir plus.

A SIGNALER

Monsieur Marc BILLON, Conseiller à l’Assemblée des Français de l’Etranger, assurera une permanence le samedi 27 mars 2010 de 15h à 17h à Cincinnati OH (Glendale Community Library). La permanence de votre Conseiller AFE sera suivie par une cérémonie de remise de livres de l'école d'immersion ("Amis") de Cincinnati Public School (à 17h20 dans la même salle). Un apéritif amical (cash bar) aura lieu ensuite de 18h a 19h au restaurant La Petite France.

La Francophonie a 40 ans le 20 mars 2010. A cette occasion, Abdou Diouf, Secrétaire général de la Francophonie, adresse le message "Préparer la Francophonie de demain". Regarder la vidéo.

IDENTITE NATIONALE - ETRE FRANCAIS

Le gouvernement a engagé, du 2 novembre dernier au 31 janvier 2010 un débat sur l'identité nationale. Le 17 décembre 2009 a été mis en ligne sur le site www.debatidentitenationale.fr un questionnaire quantitatif sur l’identité nationale. Le même questionnaire a été administré par Internet à un échantillon représentatif de la population française du 20 au 26 janvier 2010. 1000 individus ont été interrogés.

UPDATE: RFI IN THE UNITED STATES
RFI has signed an agreement with AudioNow to broadcast its French programs on the telephone network. RFI’s French program is currently available 24/7 in several cities in the United States including Chicago where the audience continues to grow and register the most listeners in the country.

TOURISM IN FRANCE
ATOUT FRANCE, The France Tourism Development Agency, is pleased to announce the release of FranceGuide 2010, the latest edition of their magazine for sophisticated travelers seeking new experiences in France. This year—for the first time—FranceGuide is expanding the magazine online, with over 50 web-exclusive articles, tips, and itineraries. This new print/web hybrid will give readers exclusive access to first-hand travel accounts, cultural close-ups, interviews, and video footage. ● Education Commissioner Signs Partnership Agreement with Lyon, France

Ambassador Vimont and Commissioner of Education Chris L. Nicastro.

The French Ambassador to the United States, education officials from Lyon, France, and Commissioner of Education Chris L. Nicastro today signed an historic agreement intended to build ties between educators and students in France and Missouri.
At a ceremony this morning at the Missouri History Museum in St. Louis, Commissioner Nicastro signed a formal “memorandum of understanding” with the Academie de Lyon, France, to encourage cooperation and professional exchanges between Missouri and France.

On the International Women’s Day, the Cultural Services of the French Consulate in Chicago invite you to come and spend an evening with Delphine de Vigan, short-listed for the 2009 prix Goncourt and best selling author of “No et moi”, an intense, brilliant novel about home and homelessness. Translated in 20 languages and winner of Le Prix des Libraires, “No et moi” is currently being made into a movie.
The US Tour is organized by the Délégation Générale de l’Alliance Française aux États-Unis and the Cultural services at the Consulate general of France in Chicago in collaboration with the Rotary Club Paris Academy and with the generous support of the Jean Bodfish Brown Fund. This year, CIMMfest has joined with the Paris Filmer La Musique Festival and is proud to host its representatives as our guests to introduce their films. MARCH 5 - APRIL 1 : 13TH ANNUAL EUROPEAN UNION FILM FESTIVAL
The European Union Film Festival, was founded by the Gene Siskel Film Center in 1998. The annual festival program of more than 60 feature films, all Chicago premieres, ranges from work by established directors, including some of the most renowned names in world cinema, to the work of first-time and emerging directors and films from nations with developing film industries.
