ELECTRIC ODYSSEY: THE FIRST WORLD TOUR IN A STANDARD ELECTRIC CAR
On 11 February, Xavier Degon and Antonin Guy set off on the first world tour to be attempted in a standard electric car. The project, in partnership with AXA Assistance, is the brainchild of two trained engineers, Antonin and Xavier, who wanted to promote this innovative, environmentally-friendly means of transport among the general public. They will cover 25,000 km and 17 countries in 8 months. Each stage has been mapped to enable the C-Zero to be recharged roughly every 110km.
They plan to arrive in Chicago around March 16. A reception will be held that day in their honor at the Illinois Institute of Technology who recently installed on their campus a set of new Electric Vehicle Charging Stations as part of a U.S. Department of Energy-funded research initiative into microgrids and “smart” EV charging.  More information to come.
