SATURDAY JULY 18: BASTILLE DAY CELEBRATION
The City of Montgomery honors and celebrates the 20 year relationship we have established through exchanges and communications with Nieully-Plaissance, France. Our main event, Bastille Day, is a summer street festival set up as a fundraiser for the Sister Cities Commission which supports the continued efforts to maintain our long-distance friendship with creative projects done year round by this commission.
In the City of Montgomery, we celebrate our Sister City with a street festival from noon to 11:00 p.m. that has some French flair added throughout. Some of the French accents at the festival include French foods such as crepes, French wine selections, strolling clarinetist and accordionist, mimes, CanCan dancers, French music in the performance by the Sycamore Community Band, the Tour de Montgomery bike ride, strolling costumed characters selling stemmed flowers, art displays and other little splashes of related visuals from the French flags to beret-wearing volunteers.
