October 2-11: Messiaen Music Festival
In one of the most talked about musical events of the season, the University of Chicago Presents celebrates the 100th anniversary of the French composer's birth with musicians and ensembles from all over performing in several different venues. International favorites such as soprano Julia Bentley and pianist Pierre-Maurent Aimard and other perform works by Messiaen, Ravel, Boulez, Jolivet, Debussy and more. Complete information.

The Rite of Spring by Compagnie Heddy Maalem
This innovative French-Algerian choreographer from Toulouse reinterprets Stravinsky's famous score and ballet to create an explosive, energetic contemporary piece using fourteen dancers from Mali, Benin, Nigeria, Togo, Mozambique, Senegal and Martinique. at the Museum of Contemporary Art.
