Le Combat dans l'Ile (1962; 104 min). Directed by Alain Cavalier; starring Jean-Louis Trintignant, Romy Schneider and Henri Serr. A political thriller mixed with romantic intrigue, in which a right wing terrorist flees the city with his wife after a botched assassination attempt and hides in the country home of a pacifist friend. MUSIC

Chicago World Music Festival: September 18-24.
The most important international musical event of the year returns with dozens of groups from all over the world performing in venues across the city.
This year's edition features two exciting groups from France and Cameroon:

Watchaclan, an immensely popular group from the south of France, mixes high energy electro pop with musical influences from Africa and Europe.
  • September 18 at noon in a live broadcast on WNUR, 89.3 FM at the Chicago Cultural Center 78 E. Washington St., Cassidy Theater.

Blick Bassy , an exciting new voice from Cameroon, performs rich soulful harmonies inspired by Central and African musical traditions as well as bossa nova and jazz.
