French Economic Mission - Ubifrance
The French Economic Mission in Chicago and its affiliate in Detroit belong to a network of nine Trade Economic Mission which cover the territory of the United States, and fall under the authority of the Economic and Commercial Affairs division of the French Embassy in Washington. They are also part of a worldwide network, under the responsibility of the Directorate of External Economic Relations, a division of the Minister of Economy, Finance and Industry.
Each branch of the French trade Economic Mission in the United States is responsible for a certain number of sectors throughout the entire United States, and is staffed with specialists, who have an excellent knowledge of the French and American industries under their responsibility.
Chicago and Detroit are responsible for the following sectors :
- Iron and Steel Industry, Metalworking Industry
- Automobile Industry (Detroit)
- Mechanical Industry and Computer Controlled Production
- Sub contracting, Plastics Industry
- Material handling
- Equipment for Graphic Arts
- Instrumentation (Test and Measurement controls)
- Machinery and products for agriculture and stock raising
- Equipment and ingredients for the Agri-business sector
- Hardware/do-it-yourself/Gardening
- Air-conditioning/Heating, Refrigeration
Missions
- Put American companies in contact with potential partners in France
- Help French companies to export and enter the American market
- Macro and microeconomic information, regulations, laws, norms (CE)
- Organize individual and collective business missions to France, and to the US
- Organize collective projects, such as participation in trade shows, etc.
Territory covered : North Dakota, South Dakota, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Wisconsin.
