How to apply?

1. The Consulate General of France in Chicago’s area Retour à la table des matières

You may apply for a visa at the Consulate General of France in Chicago if you are resident in the following states :

States
North Dakota
South Dakota
Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Kansas
Kentucky
Michigan
Minnesota
Missouri
Nebraska
Ohio
Wisconsin

We do not accept applications from B1/B2 visa holders. They must apply in their country of residence

2. Personal appearance Retour à la table des matières

For security reasons, all applicants, except children under the age of 6, have to appear personally at the Consulate General of France in Chicago.

3. How to make an appointment? Retour à la table des matières

The visa section is open to the public on an appointment basis, with no walk-ins allowed.

No appointment can be made by phone or by e-mailing us. If you are not able to attend, please free a slot by canceling your appointment.

Make sure you bring all the required documents when coming to the Consulate General.

As slots are limited, it is strongly recommended to book as early as possible.

4. Holiday closures Retour à la table des matières

In 2009, the Consulate will be closed on the following days:

- New Year Day : Thursday, January 1
- Martin Luther King Junior’s Birthday : Monday, January 19
- President’s Day : Monday, February 16
- Easter : Monday, April 13
- Memorial Day : Monday, May 25
- Independance Day : Friday, July 3
- Labor Day : Monday, September 7
- November 11 : Wednesday, November 11
- Thanksgiving : Thursday, November 26
- Thanksgiving week end : Friday, November 27
- Christmas : Friday, December 25

- Bastille Day : Tuesday, July, 14. The staff of the consulate works on July 14 but the consulate general remains close to the public.
