The Délégation générale de l'Alliance francaise in the United States successfully applied early this year for a call for tender of the Delegation of the European Union to the United States to organize multidisciplinary events to celebrate the 'Europe Day, on May 2013, in the states of Louisiana, Minnesota and Michigan.

Euro-American Celebrations are integrating cultural, social and educational events to increase awareness, knowledge and understanding of the European Union in the United States. It includes presentations and round table discussions on current EU issues; cultural and economics panels, wine tasting, film screenings, eurocup soccer tournaments and other cultural events related to the European Union or to EU Member States. It aims to mix fun, friendly exchanges with information, and endeavors to give the US public a chance to learn more about the European Union.

The Délégation générale de l'Alliance française is coordinating the Euro-American Celebrations while the Alliances françaises (Alliance française of New Orleans, Alliance Française Minneapolis St Paul and AFIF Michigan) are implementing the programs and coordinate all the actions with others local organizations representing European member states in their area (European Consulates and chambers of commerce, World Affairs Council, Goethe Institute, Honorary Consuls, other cultural centers, University European studies or language departments) and other local organizations such as think-tanks and other non- governmental organizations, schools, city and state chambers of commerce and government authorities.

The European Union is a unique economic and political partnership among 27 diverse democracies united in their commitment to peace, democracy, the rule of law, and respect for human rights. It is represented in the United States by the Washington, DC Delegation of the European Union, a full-fledged diplomatic mission working in close coordination with the Embassies and Consulates of the 27 EU Member States. The Delegation of the European Union to the United States represents the EU in dealings with the US government in areas that are part of the EU's remit; raises awareness of EU issues and concerns; and promotes the importance of the EU-U.S. relationship among the American public.

Élections législatives partielles pour les Français établis hors de France (circonscription 1, Canada et Etats-Unis)

Suite aux décisions d'annulation prononcées par le Conseil constitutionnel le 15 février dernier, des élections législatives partielles vont être organisées dans la circonscription n°1 (Canada et États-Unis) ainsi que, pour information, dans la circonscription n°8 (Chypre, Grèce, Israël, Italie, Malte, Turquie).

Les Français inscrits sur les listes électorales consulaires de la circonscription pourront exprimer leur suffrage au moyen des mêmes modalités de vote qu'en 2012 : à l'urne, par procuration, par correspondance ou par Internet.

Dans la première circonscription, le vote à l'urne aura lieu le samedi 25 mai 2013 pour le premier tour et, dans le cas d'un second tour, le samedi 8 juin.

Le vote par voie électronique sera ouvert du mercredi 15 mai 2013 à 12 heures au mardi 21 mai à 12 heures (heures de Paris) pour le premier tour, et du mercredi 29 mai à 12 heures au mardi 4 juin à 12 heures (heures de Paris) pour le second tour.

Chaque électeur sera informé individuellement, par courrier, des modalités de scrutin et pourra obtenir des informations sur le site du ministère des affaires étrangères (votezaletranger.gouv.fr) et sur ceux des postes diplomatiques et consulaires concernés.
